The Generation of Greater Glory!

Something greater is happening and I don’t want you to miss out!

You and I are living in a time like no other. It’s true in spiritual matters as well as this natural world. Knowledge and technology are growing and changing faster than ever before. By the time a new phone or computer is being sold on the market, newer, better technology is being developed that makes it obsolete.

All these changes and improvements are not a bad thing. In fact, they can be a very good thing when they are embraced and used correctly.

Throughout all of history there has never been a time like this spiritually either. God is moving and pouring out His glory in greater ways, and I don’t want you to miss out on His presence in your life.

One of my favorite verses from the writings of the Apostle Paul has always been Ephesians 2:7 where he says, “That in the ages to come he [God] might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.”

And notice Paul says that it’s reserved for the “ages to come.”

In other words, he’s saying that there will be a generation beyond his that will experience this like no other generation has ever seen.

I truly believe Paul was seeing our generation in the spirit-realm! The Amplified Bible says God is going to demonstrate His, “Immeasurable, limitless, surpassing riches of His free grace, His unmerited favor in His kindness and goodness,” to this future generation!

The Holy Spirit has spoken to my heart and said we have entered into what he referred to as THE GREATER GLORY.

What is this “glory” that He’s talking about? If you study the Bible closely, you’ll discover that the “glory” is manifested as the presence of God, the power of God, and the goodness of God.

Even though people, in both the Old Testament and those who lived at the time of the birth of the New Testament Church, saw and experienced the “glory”—but it was nothing like what you and I are about to see.

God is always about increasing and doing more. Even Jesus said, speaking of future believers, “They will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father” (John 14:12).

I truly believe we are the generation God has been waiting for. We’re that FUTURE GENERATION that Paul spoke about in Ephesians and Hosea saw in the spirit. Peering into the future, the prophet Hosea declared, “In the last days, they will tremble in awe of the Lord and of his goodness” (Hosea 3:5).

Who is the “they” that Hosea said “will tremble in awe?” They are people far from God! The manifested goodness of God is one of the major ways in which God will get the attention of unbelievers in the last days.

His goodness will be poured upon His people to such a degree that no one will be able to deny that our God is indeed a good God!

That’s exactly what He did when His people were in captivity to Babylon.

The psalmist described this in Psalm 126:2. After God’s power delivered the people of Israel, “… then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them…” In The Message version, it says that they were “the talk of the nation.” The heathen were saying, “God was wonderful to them.”

No one believed that God’s people would ever be delivered from Babylon—it was a horrible captivity. The people had become so distraught and hopeless that they had lost their songs of joy and their “harps were hanging in the willow trees” (Psalm 137:2).

The people of Babylon rejoiced in Israel’s captivity and it looked as though evil had triumphed over good and nothing and no one could ever change it. But God came through and it was such a marvelous deliverance that even the heathen had to stand back and declare that God had done great things for His people.

It was a marvelous display of His presence, His power, and His goodness! And now, our generation is about to see it even GREATER!

No matter what you may be facing, no matter how impossible your dream may seem, God’s greater glory is going to deliver you and cause you to stand victorious! And all the people who said it would never happen, your friends that told you to just give up and move on, your family that just looked at you odd—they will all say in awe, “God has been wonderful to you!”

Isaiah 30:18 says in The Message paraphrase, “God’s not finished. He’s waiting around to be gracious to you …” And I believe that we are the generation that God has been waiting for!

Get up every day with this hope in your heart. Get up declaring, “This is my time for the greater glory—this is my time to experience greater manifestations of God’s presence, God’s power, and God’s goodness, in Jesus’ name.”

Begin to declare it! Begin to expect it!

The psalmist declared to the Lord that “The fame of Your goodness spreads across the country …” (Psalm 145:7 The Message).

This month as you give, you are helping to spread the truth about God’s glory and goodness around the world. Through your faithful support, you are part of making Habakkuk 2:14 a reality in your generation: “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.”

Thank you for supporting and believing in this vital teaching ministry. Never has there been such a great need in this world for the knowledge of God’s glory!

Let me leave you with this—God’s best is yet to come! Your greatest blessings, most awesome miracles, biggest breakthroughs are all still ahead. Now is the time for God’s greater glory to manifest in your life!

In Him,

Jerry Savelle

P.S. For 45 years I’ve seen God move in powerful ways to bring breakthroughs and deliverance to His people. We are living in a time when God’s goodness is being poured out in unprecedented ways. Thank you for your partnership that connects people all around the world with the truth of God’s love, favor, and glory!

God wants to show you His glory

Has God done the miraculous in your life? Was there a time when you were not sure how you were going to make it, but God intervened and caused a breakthrough?

Many times we don’t see God’s hand while we are in the middle of a trial, but looking back, we often see that it was really God all along working to bring the victory.

Let me encourage you to never stop celebrating what God has done for you. When you have a grateful heart for the past victories God has brought in your life, it builds your faith to trust in Him in the midst of the challenges you currently face.

What if the problems that you have now are really just opportunities for God to show His glory?

Maybe you’re familiar with the story of how Jesus raised His friend, Lazarus, from the dead. In John 11:4 of The Message translation, Jesus is telling His disciples about Lazarus and says, “This sickness is not fatal. It will become an occasion to show God’s glory…”

Jesus is saying that He is going to use the death of Lazarus as an opportunity to reveal God’s glory. I want you to also understand that God’s glory is really His manifested presence.

We all want to see His glory, but there’s something else in this story that the Holy Spirit has brought to my attention, and He wants me to share it with you today.

Do you know that the disciples nearly missed out on experiencing God’s presence in this situation? And the same thing that tried to steal it from them will rob you too, if you allow it to happen.

As you read this story, it reveals how they almost missed this opportunity simply because they were focused more on themselves than they were on Jesus’ promise of seeing God’s glory.

Why were the disciples focused on themselves? In John 11:8 (NKJV), they responded to Jesus by saying, “…the Jews sought to stone You, and are You going there again?” They were concerned about being stoned instead of trusting Jesus and seeing God’s glory. A few verses later, Thomas said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with Him.”

In other words, they were focused on their own problems more than they were on seeing His glory. That caused their faith to wane at the promise of seeing God do the miraculous! The disciples were so focused on their problems that they nearly missed what God’s manifested presence would do in and around them.

If Jesus hadn’t insisted on returning to Judea, the disciples would have missed out on a miraculous move of God. And the same is true with many of God’s people today. As they focus on their circumstances and troubles, their ability to experience a great move of God is hindered.

Maybe you’re thinking, “But, Jerry, you don’t know what I’m going through!” You’re right. I don’t know all the details of what you’re facing. But I do know that being focused on yourself and your problems will cause you to miss out on seeing God’s glory bring you the victory.

Refuse to allow your problems to become a distraction! Instead, be consumed with the prophetic word the Holy Spirit has proclaimed over this year—God wants to manifest His glory in a greater way in 2014!

If you’re familiar with Lazarus’ story, you know that Jesus and the disciples didn’t get stoned. On the contrary, when the disciples finally submitted to Jesus, He took care of them! After all, circumstances, no matter how threatening, can never supersede God’s plans to manifest His glory if we’ll only believe and receive!

Like so many people today, the disciples allowed Satan to “blow their perceived problems completely out of proportion in their minds” in his attempt to keep them from experiencing the glory of God.

I’m not saying to pretend your problems don’t exist. I am saying, don’t let them become a major distraction that overshadows the plan and promises of God. Satan would love nothing more than for you to miss out on the visitation of God’s presence. Don’t give him that satisfaction.

I sense the Holy Spirit telling me to tell you, “Focusing on yourself and your problem will be a major temptation for many of God’s people.” Satan will attempt to use self-centeredness perhaps more than anything else, and you must determine right now that you will not yield to it nor give it any space in your life.

We are told in James 4:7 to, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (KJV). Don’t try to resist the devil without first submitting yourself to God! By submitting to God first, you break free from self-centeredness and then His strength is available to assist you in resisting the devil.

Let me encourage you to conquer self-centeredness. The best way to accomplish this is to have the attitude Jesus had:

“…not my will, but your will be done…” (Luke 22:42, NIV).

Let me tell you that this is the best decision you will ever make!

This month Jerry Savelle Ministries is celebrating our 45th year in ministry! That means for 45 years this ministry has been focused on serving God and reaching people. I remember when I first surrendered and made the commitment that I would do God’s will and not my own. Before that time, my major concern was to focus on myself. I even resisted God’s call to be a minister. I wasn’t a generous giver, and I regularly put my needs and wants above others.

When I broke free from self-centeredness and shifted my focus off of myself and my problems, and instead focused on God, that is when I began to see His glory manifest in my life more times than I can count.

Now, my expectancy is even higher this year! 2014, which happens to our 45th anniversary in ministry, will be the year of GREATER GLORY!

I’m believing to see greater miracles, breakthroughs, signs, and wonders in the Body of Christ—and in your life! When God’s presence manifests, lives are changed, families are restored, debts are canceled, and the impossible happens.

Be a part of what God is doing, don’t miss out! Submit your will to His will and, with faith, start focusing on seeing His glory.

Say this prayer with me: Heavenly Father, I want to see Your glory. I don’t want to miss this visitation. Therefore, I submit myself to You and I resist the temptation to be self-centered. Not my will but Your will be done, in Jesus’ Name! Amen.

Thank you for your continued and faithful support of this ministry. It enables us to make a greater impact around the world. This month as you give, as a thank you, I will send you a powerful new teaching titled, Stay Focused On God and You’ll See His Glory. This timely message will give you the keys to experiencing God's glory to a greater degree this year.

During this landmark year of ministry, join with me in expressing gratitude to God for His goodness and favor. I look forward to seeing what good things God has in store for us this year, and I pray that you experience His greater glory with me!

In Him,

Jerry Savelle

P.S. As we celebrate 45 years of God’s favor at Jerry Savelle Ministries, we are so amazed at how faithful He is. He has never forsaken us. He has never left us in defeat. He has always cared for us and brought us to a place of victory! I would be honored if you would give me the privilege of agreeing with you in faith concerning any prayer request that you may have. The Year of the Greater!

What was your life like before receiving salvation? Was there turmoil? Struggle? Maybe worry and fear?

When I look back at my life B.C. (before Christ), on my BEST day…I was maybe average. I was in debt, struggling to make ends meet. I didn’t know how to be a good husband and my marriage was hanging by a thread.

Before Christ, I was a nobody. I was failing at life. BUT GOD is a master at making champions out of nobodies.

God has done more in my life and has taken this ministry far beyond what I could have ever dreamed or imagined (Ephesians 3:20)!

I know that if you have surrendered your life to Christ and met the risen Savior, then your life is not the same as it used to be either. But I am writing this letter to you because I want you to know that GOD IS NOT DONE WITH YOU YET!

God is still right now working behind the scenes to do even greater things in your life. He is not done with your family. He is not done with your health. He is not done with your finances, emotions, mind, or your call to serve Him!

Last October 8th, I was flying to speak at a meeting and heard these words deep down in my spirit:

“Never stop celebrating what I’ve already done

And now expect the GREATER and it will come.”

I knew it was from the Holy Ghost, and He went on to say, “2014 Will Be Known As The Year Of The Greater.”

And I’m challenging you now to lay hold upon it, hold fast to it, and do exactly what He said: EXPECT IT AND IT WILL COME!

As I began to meditate on this word, I was reminded of what the psalmist said, May the Lord give you increase more and more, you and your children. May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth (Psalm 115:14-15).

I looked in Webster’s Dictionary for definitions of the word increase and the first definition it gave was “TO BECOME GREATER.” It went on to say, “To become greater in size, amount, degree, numbers, and in quantity.”

After the psalmist said you would increase more and more, he also said, “May you be blessed.” We know that the blessing is an empowerment to prosper. That means that God’s increase in your life will bring financial prosperity as well.

FOR YOU NOT TO INCREASE IS A VIOLATION OF SPIRITUAL LAW. Jesus came so that you could have an overflowing, more than enough, abundant life (John 10:10).

Jesus also told us that the number one prerequisite for experiencing this abundant life is to, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).

Let me encourage you today to put the things of God first in your life! Don’t seek the increase; seek the God of the increase! Focus your attention on Him.

How? Through prayer and fellowship. Through quality time in His Word. Through finding ways to serve and to be a blessing to your church and to others.

Seeking first God’s Kingdom is losing ourselves in obedience to what He desires. It’s pouring ourselves out in service to Him in whatever capacity He desires. It’s being the witness that He has called us to be in this world, not only through our preaching or what we say but also through our actions, our conduct and our behavior.

Keep that in mind while you’re expecting THE GREATER!

The Bible, speaking about Israel in the days of Joseph, while he was prime minister of Egypt, says, “…they had possessions…and grew and multiplied exceedingly” (Genesis 47:27).

Once again, this is what happens when you enter into THE GREATER! This is what God wants to do in your life this year!

Even though this is obviously what God desires for you, it doesn’t happen automatically. You certainly have a part to play in it coming to fruition.

As I’ve said many times before, your part is to RECEIVE THE PROPHETIC WORD and to BELIEVE THE PROPHETIC WORD.

To believe simply means to not let go of it. Don’t let Satan steal it out of your heart. Embrace it, confess it, keep it in your thoughts and keep it in your mouth.

Get aggressive about this. Don’t miss out by taking lightly what I am sharing.

God is bringing us into GREATER financial prosperity and GREATER financial stability, but not just so that we can live comfortably. He’s not against us living better, but the real reason behind it is so that we can do more for the Kingdom of God.

The increase that my wife, Carolyn, and I along with this ministry experienced last year was so we could sow more than ever. There’s nothing more enjoyable than being able to increase your sowing. I’m telling you, it’s fun, it’s exciting, and it’s exhilarating.

Always stay committed to increasing your sowing when God brings increase into your life. That’s how you keep the cycle flowing. That’s how you experience what I like to call uninterrupted prosperity.

Your faithful support this month will help make a GREATER impact in people’s lives. From training pastors and ministry leaders in Africa to thousands of people coming to Jesus through our Chariots of Light outreaches…your seed is producing! Thank you for your sowing that enables this ministry to continue to come to you and reach around the world.

In closing, I encourage you to dare to believe to reap GREATER manifestations of His glory, His blessings, His favor, His goodness and everything else that He wants you to enjoy.

I love you and pray that you experience God in a greater way this new year!

In Him,

Jerry Savelle

P.S. Scripture tells us, "Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised' (Psalm 48:1). When you are thankful and praise Him for great things He has done, you open the door for even GREATER blessings. Take a moment to thanks God for how far He has already brought you and watch Him continue to increase you more and more!

Leave normal behind, live a radical life!

My wife, Carolyn, my family, my staff and I pray that you and your family have a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

I believe God is doing a new thing during this season and I want to encourage you to believe Him for something radical in your life. Don’t settle for average and refuse to live with mediocrity!

God needs radical people to rise up. Being radical is more than appearing strange, weird, extreme, far out, or rebellious. To be radical is to make a major departure from and go far beyond what is considered usual and normal. I don’t know about you, but I quit being normal when I got saved. It began when I made Jesus the Lord of my life in 1969. My life changed from that moment, and nothing about my life today resembles the life I lived back then.

I believe this is what Jesus is referring to in John 17:16 when speaking of His followers, He said, “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” What Jesus is saying is, “Those that follow Me, shouldn’t be marked by the same boundaries that the world has.”

As Jesus’ followers, we have been released from what binds, limits, confines, and restricts the world. I’m in the world, but I’m not of it. I don’t think like the world. I don’t talk like the world. I don’t act like the world. I don’t live like the world. That ought to be the testimony of every believer.

Your life should be radical in the sense of the definitions we’re talking about here. You should go far beyond the norm. I tried norm. I didn’t like it. I was normal for the first 23 years of my life, but for the last 44, life has been far better than I ever dreamed possible.

My life radically changed on Tuesday, February 11, 1969 at 3:00 in the morning. I had been running from God for many years. I did not want to preach; it was the last thing I wanted to do. My passion was cars—hot rods and racing. But God continued to pursue me. Finally, I couldn’t take it anymore. I went into our living room, and I’m standing up looking out the window and I say, “God, why do you still want me? I have been fighting this all my life.”

I knew I was called since watching Oral Roberts on television as a little boy. I said, “God, why do you keep bothering me with this? Why don’t you find somebody that really wants to do this?”

I said, “Lord, look at my life; I’m a failure. What could you possibly do with me?” He said, “Son, look in the Bible. It’s full of failures that I made champions out of, and I can do the same with you.” He said, “Just surrender. Stop fighting it.”

So, I lifted my hands and said, “Lord, if you still want me, I don’t know why, but here I am.” I lifted my hands and accepted my salvation. The next thing I know, this language is flowing out of me. Like rivers. I stood there and prayed in the Holy Ghost, with tears of joy and laughter.

I felt like I was standing in the middle of a field with the sun shining on nobody but me. It was the glory of God. I was oblivious to time after that. Finally, I stopped and I turned, and my wife and my mother in law are sitting on the sofa. I didn’t even know they were in the same room.

I said to my wife, “Guess what happened to me?” She said, “I know!” They were both sitting there crying. I walked over and kissed my wife and asked her to forgive me for having been such a jerk.

Then I kissed my mother-in-law right on the lips and told her I loved her! That’s when I knew this experience was real! I knew my life had radically changed, because my mother-in-law and I had had a few challenges. It’s mainly because she just kept preaching at me all the time, and I didn’t want to hear it. And I might add that there’s been nothing but love for each other ever since that day.

I knew this was not just an emotional church experience, this was the real deal. From that moment the power of God, the Holy Spirit rested on me, and He does to this day. He took up His abode there and remained.

The wisest decision you will ever make is to follow Jesus, get into and live by His Word. Your life will become radical and God will take you far beyond the norm!

In Mark chapter 6, Jesus sends out his disciples to tell others the good news of salvation. I like how verse 12 from The Message translation says, “They preached with joyful urgency that life can be radically different.” That’s the message that you and I should be preaching to the world, that life can be radically different!

Many churches and Christians are just satisfied with three points and a poem. “A song or two is great, but don’t keep us past noon, because that would mess up our lunch plans.”

BUT I see a stirring on the horizon. In the spirit-realm I see God’s people making a mass exodus out of apathy. A mass exodus out of lethargy. A mass exodus out of religious tradition.

I’m telling you the Church of Jesus Christ is coming alive again. It’s time for another major departure from the usual and the customary. It’s time for another revolutionary change in current and traditional practices. It’s time to go farther and far beyond the norm. That’s what being a follower of Christ is all about!

This change starts with you and your family. Don’t wait for others to help you get excited about God. Your church and Pastor can’t cause you to be radically different. They can, and should, encourage you with God’s Word, but it is up to you. It’s between you and God!

There are two major components to your life being radically different. This month’s teaching resource is a message where I go into deeper revelation on this, but I want to share these two components with you now.

In Acts 4:33 it says, “With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all.”

When you experience great power (through the Holy Spirit) and God’s grace (His unmerited favor), it radically changes your life. It radically changes your family, your finances, your mind, your emotions…you are no longer the person you used to be! You’ve got to hear this message!

That is what has happened in my life. And that is why I am so passionate about sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with a lost and hurting world. It’s time to leave normal behind and receive the abundant life available through Jesus’ sacrifice.

It’s time to leave normal behind! Let this Christmas and New Year be the start to a new level of radical faith in God and obedience to His Word. As you do, God’s power and favor will cause your life to be radically different.

Know that my entire team and I are praying for you—you are loved!

In him

You are Distinctively Different, Unique, and Special!

If you could choose between being successful or defeated, which would you prefer? I’m going to assume you answered, “Successful.” Why? Because I believe that God has placed a desire in each person to succeed and overcome.

Even while I was an unbeliever I wanted to be successful at what I did. Then after being saved I discovered that God takes pleasure in the prosperity of His children (Psalm 35:27)! It’s God’s plan for His children to succeed.

Most Christians go through life with this tremendous ability to prosper and succeed but never tap into it or learn to appropriate it. And instead of experiencing the abundant life Jesus paid for them to have, they live life below their privileges as a child of God.

1 Peter 2:9 says “You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people…” There is something that makes you different from the rest of the world!

What is it that makes you so special? The primary difference (out side of salvation) is God’s blessing and favor. God has empowered you to be superior to your circumstances. What affects others doesn’t have to affect you.

We see this truth in the story of the life of Joseph. The blessing and favor of God on his life produced opportunities to excel and to rise above what could be considered the worst of circumstances.

Without taking a lot of time to explain all the scriptures that tell his story, let me remind you that God gave Joseph a dream regarding his future. When he told his brothers about it, they hated him and began to plot to get rid of him. After they considered killing him, they eventually sold him as a slave and he ended up in Egypt serving a man named Potiphar (and you thought you were having a bad year.) Now, at this point, it certainly doesn’t look as though the blessing of God is working for him.

Some people may have the mistaken idea that when the blessing is on you then you’ll never face any adversity again. That’s not true—you will!

The good news is if you know how to appropriate and activate God’s favor, then you will OVERCOME whatever adversity you may be facing!

Even while Joseph was a slave serving Potiphar, Genesis 39:2-4 says, “And the Lord was with Joseph…and he was a prosperous man.” In the middle of some of the worst circumstances, the Lord made all that he did to flourish and succeed. This impressed Potiphar and He became very fond of Joseph and made him his personal aide.

Everything seemed to be looking up for Joseph, but then all of a sudden he’s blindsided by another major setback. You know the story…Potiphar’s wife tried to seduce him, then lied about him to her husband and Joseph was thrown into prison.

Joseph didn’t yield to this distraction. It was indeed a major setback, but here’s the good news – setbacks are not final if you’ll keep your eyes on God.

God’s favor promoted Joseph and he ran the prison (Genesis 39:21)!

Joseph’s story doesn’t end there. The favor of God was still at work in Joseph’s life. Pharaoh, the most powerful man in Egypt, had a dream that none of his advisers could interpret. When he learned that a Hebrew slave in prison named Joseph could interpret dreams, he called for him.

What’s happening? The favor of God is once again producing an opportunity for promotion.

Once Joseph interpreted Pharaoh’s dream, Pharaoh promoted Joseph to a position of power, second only to himself.

Ultimately, God’s plan of victory and success was realized in Joseph’s life. It was just a matter of time! Through all the negative circumstances, setbacks and years of waiting, God’s blessing and favor caused Joseph to rise above the worst of situations.

If you are facing challenges and it doesn’t look as though it’s going to work out for you, refuse to be distracted by the negative things that happen in your life. That doesn’t mean that the blessing isn’t working!

If you continue to stay focused on God and what He has promised you, then His favor is going to produce an opportunity for you to rise above your adversity.

Joseph kept his attitude right. He did not allow his circumstances to distract him and neither should you.

Don’t ever stop counting on the blessing to work in your life. Don’t ever give up on God’s favor—it will produce an opportunity for you to rise above whatever you may be going through!

One of the greatest lessons you can learn while waiting to see the blessing and favor manifest is to AVOID COMPLAINING and MURMURING, and AVOID BECOMING DISTRACTED BY THE FACT THAT IT DOESN’T APPEAR THAT ANYTHING IS HAPPENING.

It’s not over just because you’ve had a setback! It’s not over just because it hasn’t happened yet! You may be going through what seems to be the worst setbacks you’ve ever experienced, but just remember, it’s not over yet.

There is a wealth of wisdom that can be obtained from studying the story of Joseph, but the main thing that I want you to see is how the blessing of God is the empowerment to prosper and the favor of God produces the opportunities to make it happen.

The blessing of God and the favor of God are working behind the scenes on your behalf right now.

There are ministry plans that I have believed for many years…decades even! No matter how much time passes or the number of setbacks we may face, I am committed to trusting God and His favor. He has come through every time!

There are more people to encourage, more families to restore, more lost that need the good news! Many Christians are being held back by religion, lies, and distractions and are tempted to quit. God has a better plan for their life and He has called this ministry to teach the truth to them—the truth that will set them free!

As you give this month, you will enable me to continue encouraging you and many others with the truth of God’s Word. I stand in agreement with you that you will reap a bountiful harvest on your seed of generosity.

Tithing & Grace

I want you to experience all that God has for you. I have seen and received amazing blessings from God and have spent the last 44 years sharing the truth about God’s laws that govern biblical prosperity.

What you believe about tithing, sowing, and reaping has the potential to block God’s blessing or it can position you to receive an abundant harvest.

A lot of Christians have become confused (or deceived) when it comes to sowing and reaping and Old Testament Law and grace. I meet many Christians, and even pastors, who ask me if tithing is even applicable for New Testament believers.

Some are being told, “Tithing, sowing, and giving is an ‘act of performance’ and, therefore, is under the Law of the Old Testament. Since we are no longer under the Law but under grace, there is no need to pay tithes.”

Many Christians have never been shown the truth in Scripture that tithing and giving was in place before the Law was given, commanded during the Law, and encouraged after the Law.

It was almost 600 years before the Law was given that Genesis 8:22 says, “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest…shall not cease.” The truth of sowing and reaping has nothing to do with the Law of Old Testament. Not only that, but God makes it very clear that it’s duration is for as long as the earth remains. Is the earth still here? So, apparently, “seedtime and harvest” is still to be practiced even by New Testament believers that live under grace.

What about tithing specifically? Did it begin under the Law? No, it didn’t! Abraham practiced tithing before the Law was ever given. Genesis 14:20, long before Moses received the Law, tells us that, “…He [Abraham] gave him [Melchizedek, the priest] tithes of all…”

So tithing, sowing, and reaping is scriptural as demonstrated before the Law!

Tithing was later given as a commandment under the Law, but God never intended for New Testament believers “under grace” to put it aside after the Law was fulfilled. We just go about it with a different attitude today.

My spiritual grandfather, Oral Roberts, taught me to look at it like this—“Tithing is no longer a debt that I owe but a seed that I sow.” Should a Christian give tithes to fulfill the Law? No! I give it out of my respect for the God I serve. In giving it, I’m honoring Him for loving me so much that He has blessed me with finances so that I can sow.

Tithing is not some religious obligation to me—it is an act of love. God so loved that He gave—Jerry so loves that he gives too! It’s just a natural response when you are truly grateful for how good God has been to you.

Not only was tithing, sowing, and reaping scriptural before the Law, but the Apostle Paul, who wrote much about grace, encouraged and instructed New Testament believers to give financially.

Paul, a New Testament believer, writing to New Testament believers living under grace, said to them, “Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come” (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).

The Message translation says, “Every Sunday each of you make an offering and put it in safekeeping. Be as generous as you can…”

Now, let’s remember that this is the same man who gave us the revelation of grace.

The fact that he speaks of “the collection” indicates that the readers were already aware of this principle of receiving offerings. And the fact that he says they are to do this on “the first day of the week,” or Sunday, indicates that receiving offerings was a vital part of their worship.

Giving weekly was something Paul said that he ordered the churches to do. There are other translations that say directed or instructed.

This means Paul, used by God to write nearly two-thirds of the New Testament and reveal the truth of grace to us, encouraged New Testament believers, who are under grace, to practice weekly sowing and giving.

About a year later, Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 8:10-11 to these same New Testament believers concerning their giving, “It is to your advantage not only to be doing what you began and were desiring to do a year ago; but now you also must complete the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to desire it, so there also may be a completion out of what you have.”

He’s saying, “You had good intentions—now carry through with them.” Why? Because it is what New Testament believers do. Does this mean that he’s  trying to put them back under the Law? No! Let me remind you again that this is the man that God used to teach the Body of Christ the revelation of grace.

Tithing and giving for New Testament believers, for you and me, should never be about works and fulfilling the Law.

For me, it is about being a “doer of the Word” (see James 1:22). It says in Galatians 6:9, “And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.” Jesus, said in Luke 6:46, “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?” Jesus expected his disciples to be “doers of His Word.”

It looks to me like New Testament believers are to be involved in “doing.” I’m not talking about doing things trying to earn right-standing with God. We already have that! We have been made righteous.

Being a doer of the Word does not put you back under the Law!

My point is that consistent and regular giving is expected even under grace. Don’t allow anyone to tell you that it’s not. Not only that, but to expect a harvest from it is also promised under grace.

Paul, in 2 Corinthians 9:6, speaking about money, tells us, “But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” Then in verse 8, he says, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you…”

He’s saying that our giving is divinely linked to “God’s grace abounding” in our lives. We know that grace and favor are synonymous. So, if we use the word favor here, then he is saying that God’s favor abounds in our lives when we are regular and consistent givers and sowers.

The Lord spoke to me a few months ago saying that the blessing of God on our lives empowers us to prosper, but the favor of God on our lives is what produces the opportunities for it to happen.

I like to say it this way: My regular and consistent tithing, giving, and sowing increases my opportunities for prosperity.

Don’t ever stop tithing, giving, and sowing. To do so would rob you of God’s best for your life!

We are standing in faith with you to enjoy all God has for you and to be the winner He has created you to be.

In Him,

Jerry Savelle

Jerry Savelle

P.S. Never confuse works and grace. We are saved by grace and grace alone! It is the finished work of Jesus that gives us right standing with God. And the Bible is true, you will reap what you sow. Tithing and sowing positions you for more of God’s favor and blessing!

The Blessing and Favor Connection

I know people (and I’m sure you do too) that have a problem with Christians being rich. The sad truth is that many people don’t understand God’s design for wealth and prosperity, and as a result, never experience it in their lives the way God intends.

When God approached a man named Abram in Genesis 12:2 He said, “I will bless you with an abundant increase of favors” (Amplified Bible).

Recently, the Lord has shown me that you can’t separate the blessing of God from the favor of God. If you study the Bible closely you’ll notice you can’t have one without the other. When the blessing comes, so does the favor. If you have the blessing of God on your life, then you also have the favor of God on your life.

The blessing of God is an empowerment to prosper, to succeed, to multiply, to increase, to excel, and to rise above what attempts to hold you back or keep you down.

After God conferred His blessing on Abraham, the Bible says in Genesis 13:2, “And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.” Immediately after God said “I will bless you (with an abundant increase of favors),” one chapter later, Abraham was very rich! It is evident that it was the blessing of God that brought this about. The Amplified Bibleis even more descriptive and says “extremely rich.” The blessing made him rich in every area of his life.

This empowerment, this blessing, has the ability to make a person wealthy and rich in every way.

A lot of Christians can’t wrap their mind around that. They base what is possible on their circumstances, previous experiences, culture, family, and all the other things that Satan will use to prevent that from becoming a reality in their life.

When Carolyn and I got married, all I knew to do was work, but still after all the long hours of working, I was just getting by. The kind of life I enjoy today was totally foreign to me. I didn’t know anything about the blessing of God. I didn’t know the was the empowerment from heaven to enable God’s people to succeed, prosper, excel, multiply and increase.

I have challenges and adversity, but I’ve learned to depend upon the blessing. The blessing and the favor of God has gotten me through each and every time and it will continue to do so.

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between the blessing of God and the favor of God? If the blessing is the empowerment to prosper, then what is favor designed to do?

When the blessing of God comes, the favor of God comes with it. The blessing is the empowerment to prosper. The favor produces the opportunity to prosper. You can have the ability to do something, but if you never have the opportunity, it’s not likely the ability will benefit you.

Every person who has accepted Jesus has the blessing of God on their life. It makes no difference the color of your skin, your background, if you were rich or poor before you came to Him, whether you were educated or not, whether you were the biggest failure in your family or not; that’s all erased the moment the blessing comes upon you.

You have this empowerment on you. You are not lacking in the ability to prosper, but what you need to start believing God for is opportunities. That’s what the favor of God does, it opens opportunities.

Favor produces opportunities!

Start decreeing the blessing of God empowers me to prosper, and the favor of God provides me the opportunities to make it happen!

Genesis 12:2 says in the Amplified Bible, “…I will bless you with abundant increase of favors.” That’s favors plural, not singular. If you were given only one opportunity, what if you missed it? God is saying, “I’m going to open the door for you to have opportunities to prosper and to succeed throughout the rest of your life.”

I have discovered that many Christians miss God’s favor because they do not recognize it when it comes into their lives.

Thomas Edison said, “The reason so many people miss opportunities, is because they come dressed in work clothes.” Some people pray for opportunity and just plan to sit there until it happens.

This reminds me of my son in law, Rodney, who years ago saw an ad in a newspaper for a broken video arcade game, like PAC-MAN. Well, he bought it, repaired it, and sold it for a profit. He realized there was a demand for these old arcade games and he began buying more and selling them. It became a business for him.

He eventually became the number one arcade game distributor in the region, and it all started with an opportunity. Rodney could have said, “I don’t want to have to work on it, God just give it to me. I don’t want to have to move and fix these heavy arcade games.” That’s why so many people don’t prosper. It’s because when God sends an opportunity, it doesn’t come in the form they want it.

I challenge you to start relying on the blessing of God and on the favor of God like never before. Let’s not forget the prophetic word the Lord has given us for this time – UNPRECEDENTED FAVOR.

I declare over you today that you will experience unprecedented favor and unprecedented opportunities like you never have before. That the favor of God will position you to be in the right place, at the right time. That the favor of God gives you the advantage and new opportunities to prosper and live in victory.

Malachi 3:10 says, concerning tithing, that God promises He will open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing, and that there won’t be room enough to contain it. We know that when it comes to the blessing of God and favor of God, you can’t have one without the other.

When you’re a tither, God pours out a blessing. And when you activate your faith and draw on God’s favor, you will see unprecedented opportunities to prosper. I strongly admonish you, receive the knowledge of this, believe it, speak it, and expect results.

Your financial support this month comes at an important time as we prepare to expand our pastors training in Africa to Zambia, Malawi, and Botswana, as we update our TV and media outreaches to better minister to millions worldwide, and as we reach out to bikers needing Jesus at rallies through Chariots of Light this summer.

Your generosity enables us to take the Good News—the message of hope through Jesus Christ—to thousands of people each week and share the love of God with them. When you give, people’s lives are changed by the power of God.

Thank you for believing in the call of God on my life and helping me teach people the uncompromised Word of God. I love you and pray for God’s blessing and favor on your life!

Favour is Coming Your Way!

I grew up in church like many Americans in the 50s and 60s. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t believe God existed and that Jesus is the Son of God. I knew the story of the cross—Jesus died for our sins and was raised from the dead.

As a child, I would sing, “Jesus loves me this I know…” But I thought that was just a song to sing in church and didn’t have anything to do with real life. It wasn’t until much later, when I discovered in Scripture that I have a covenant with God, that my life started to change.

The revelation that you have a covenant with God and that He is faithful to fulfill it, is the greatest revelation you can have. And until you settle that in your heart, you will never experience the full potential of God’s love, blessing, and favor that is available to you.

The writer of Chronicles understood the importance of this covenant and wrote, “Lord, the God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven or on earth—you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way” (2 Chronicles 6:14, NIV). Our covenant is a covenant of love.

God’s blessing and favor in your life is the result of God fulfilling His covenant of love with you. Every time the favor of God reveals itself in your life, that is a token of God’s love for you.

The psalmist wrote, “The Lord is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. The Lord is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation” (Psalm 145:8-9, NLT).

Why would God want to bless you? Why would God’s favor manifest in your life? Love! Because of God’s covenant of love with you!

The prophetic word the Lord gave me for this year is, “We have entered into a time of unprecedented favor.” God is a covenant keeping God, and He is going to pour out His favor on us like never before!

The psalmist wrote about it many, many years ago and said, “Thou shalt arise and have mercy upon Zion (The Church), for the time to favor her, yea the set time has come” (Psalm 102:13). There are other translations that say “the appointed time” and also “the moment designated.”

Paul picked up on this and declared in his writings, “That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace (favor) in his kindness toward us, through Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:7).

Now is the time for God to show the exceeding, immeasurable, limitless, surpassing riches of His favor! What is that? UNPRECEDENTED! Paul saw it in the spirit and declared that a future generation will experience it.

We are that generation!

Yes, people in both the Old and New Testaments experienced God’s favor, but not like what’s headed our way. God is always increasing. That is His nature. The prophet Haggai declared, “The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former said the Lord of hosts…” (Haggai 2:9). The Messagesays “…a glorious beginning but an even more glorious finish.”

That’s just the way God works. He never does less from one generation to another— HE DOES MORE! Scripture tells us in Psalm 115:14, “The Lord shall increase you more and more…” The Bible says of Job, “So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning…” (Job 42:12).

Let me encourage you, YOUR BEST DAYS ARE JUST AHEAD! You are headed for more of God’s favor than you have ever experienced before!

Paul described this by saying, “Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]” (Ephesians 3:20, AMP).

What I hear Paul telling us is simply this: DON’T LIMIT GOD! DON’T BE A SMALL THINKER! DARE TO THINK BIG!

Isn’t that exactly how our God is: HE’S THE GOD OF MORE THAN ENOUGH! I’m telling you, the favor that’s coming your way is beyond anything you’ve ever seen before. This unprecedented favor is going to shake some things loose that Satan has been holding back from you, and he’ll not be able to do anything about it.

The harvest that belongs to you is coming! It’s “crying out” to come into the hands that it rightfully belongs in—and that’s your hands!

That’s why we have this Scripture text: “No one’s ever seen or heard anything like this, Never so much as imagined anything quite like it—What God has arranged for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9,The Message).

This verse certainly describes the awesome impact we are seeing for the Kingdom of God so far this year. Through television, live meetings, faith-building resources, and outreaches, we’re reaching more people now than ever before!

We’re seeing a great harvest of souls coming into the family of God through our Chariots of Light motorcycle outreaches. Already this year, our outreach teams have prayed with over 2,000 people making decisions to follow Jesus at secular biker rallies!

We are believing to see over 5,000 people make decisions for Christ this year. God has given us favor and prearranged for us to go where others won’t to reach those far from Him. We still have a lot of work to do this year as we are planning to go to some of the biggest and baddest secular biker rallies.

Also, through our Legacy Project, you are helping to make more faith-saturated, uplifting resources available worldwide. Many of these teachings are the very revelations from God that took me from being a “nobody” to a champion. I know they will transform other people’s lives also!

We refuse to think small! We will go after every opportunity God gives us to preach faith and reach people. Will you join with me in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ?

Your continued financial support enables us to speak truth into people’s lives who would otherwise never hear of God’s love for them. They would never know of God’s blessing and plan for their lives. Your gift will go a long way in opening people’s eyes to the truth of God’s Word and to experience the new life available through Christ.

Thank you for believing with me for God’s unprecedented favor and more opportunities to share His love. He is faithful and will keep His covenant of love with you!

Encourage yourself in the Lord!

“David encouraged himself in the LORD…”
There’s a mountain of important truth and revelation in the six little words of First Samuel 30:6. It’s truth you and I would do well to be acquainted with as we go through the months ahead.
The context of that statement is the incident in which David and his men returned to camp to find that the enemy had carried off their families and all their possessions.
David’s men began to blame him for this horror. They wanted to stone him and kill him. This was a pretty serious problem for David. At that moment, he had every reason or right to give up and quit. He could have said, “God, I’m a failure. I failed my men, and I have failed you.” But that’s not what happened.
The Bible says, David became his own cheerleader. There wasn’t anybody else to do it for him. Everyone else was either gone or they wanted him dead. David had to encourage himself.
There may be times in your life when you will have to do the same thing. You’re going to have to become your own best cheerleader.
How did David encourage himself? He reminded himself of his covenant with the Almighty. And after spending time with God, David changed his attitude about his circumstance, and the strength of God entered into him.
Instead of accepting defeat, the Bible says that he asked God, “Shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I overtake them?” God answered David, “Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all” (1 Sam. 30:8).
That is what God wants you to do right now regarding your situation. He wants you to get fed up; encourage yourself by remembering you have a covenant with the mighty King of the Universe; and then pursue, overtake and “recover all.” So let me ask you . . .
How much longer are you going to put up with the devil stealing everything you’ve got? How much longer are you going to let him steal your finances, your peace and your freedom? How much longer are you going to tolerate him destroying your life? When are you going to take a stand for what rightfully belongs to you?
Just Say No to the Devil
I believe that it is time for you to become aggressive. It’s time for you to take a stand for what rightfully belongs to you. You have a covenant right to all of the blessings of Abraham. The curse doesn’t belong to you. Jesus took care of the curse at Calvary. Now it’s time for you to enforce in your own life what Jesus has already provided for you.
We also have to be mindful of this key strategic advice from the Word:
“Be careful! Watch out for attacks from the Devil, your great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour. Take a firm stand against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are”(1 Pet. 5:8-9, NLT).
These verses tell us we don’t have to accept whatever the devil is telling us. We don’t have to buy into his lies. Peter told us to “take a firm stand against him, and be strong in [our] faith.”
You may be thinking, “But how do I do that, Brother Jerry?”
It’s simple. (Not easy. But simple.) Be aggressive. Start saying no to the devil. Stop entertaining the thoughts he throws your way. Start speaking the Word right in his face.
Let the devil know that you are fed up with bondage. Let him know that you are intolerant of lack. Let him know that you are through letting him steal from you. Let him know up front: “If it’s a fight you want, it’s a fight you’re gonna get. But when the dust settles, God and I will be the ones still standing!”
You can’t be passive. You can’t just sit back and hope that someday your situation will turn around. You can’t believe that if it’s the will of God for you to live in divine prosperity, then it will just happen without your believing for it.
It’s time to take a bold and energetic stand. But you’re not alone. This ministry was founded 44 years ago to help, encourage, equip and teach believers to do this very thing. And after four decades of doing and living it, we know God has raised us up for just such a time as this.
So, stay connected! And continue to sow for breakthroughs and recovery.
You see, your gifts of support do much more than just enable us to keep encouragement coming to you and others. They are powerful, militant, moves of faith against that thief who comes only to kill, steal and destroy.
Remember: “Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world”(1 Jn. 4:4).

Make Every Day A Blessing Day!

No matter what is going on in the world, or no matter how loud the media screams doom and  gloom, you can rise above! I've discover from walking with God and studying His Word for 44 years that God's desire has always been to bless His people.

Unfortunately many Christians do not really understand God's blessing. In fact, that's why I just wrote a new book called, Every Day a Blessing Day. I am so excited about this revelation and how it can cause you to succeed and excel.

It’s one thing to know the blessing of God is always in operation and available to us each and every day. It’s something else to successfully apply biblical principles in such a way that the blessing manifests in your life.

Just because we know the blessing exists doesn’t mean we’ll ever walk in it. It’s when we take the principles from God’s Word and appropriate them that we see results of the blessing in operation in our lives on a daily basis.

Think, for instance, about what it takes to get an airplane off the ground and into the air. Certain principles must be appropriated, such as drag, lift, and thrust.

When properly applied, these principles allow a massive man-made object to overcome the law of gravity and actually fly. It doesn’t mean gravity has been done away with. All you have to do is cut the engine to find out gravity is indeed still in operation.

Likewise, the curse gained legal entrance into the earth through man’s disobedience to God’s Word. The curse is part of the law of sin and death. Although the blessing remained intact,  the only people who walked in it were those who were obedient to God. You, too, have the ability through God's grace to rise above the curse and walk in the blessing of God every single day if you so choose.
The Word of God is your source to overcome the curse and operate in the blessing. You have more access than ever before to the Bible through numerous translations available in both print and electronic media. The Word is the only foundation on which you can establish your expectations and activate your faith.

Why is that? Simply put, the Bible is the only viable source of truth available to mankind. The Apostle Paul said, When you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe (1 Thessalonians 2:13).

Notice that the Word of God works effectively in those who believe. However, as exciting as this truth is, you still have a responsibility if you want to see the blessing operate in your life. To appropriate the principles of blessing, you must commit to doing three things on a consistent basis:

  • Feed upon the Word of God
  • Do the Word of God
  • Refuse to be moved by your circumstances

When Carolyn and I first heard and received the Word of Faith in 1969, I was deep in debt. When I shut down my business to go into the ministry, that debt was still hanging over my head. I wondered how I would ever be able to go out and preach when I didn’t have the money to pay my bills, but as I fed upon the Word of God, it created a hope, an expectation, that all of these circumstances were going to change.

Although there was no immediate change in my circumstances, I consistently fed my spirit with the Word of God. Every once in a while, somebody would call and say, “Jerry, can you repair my car?” I’d tell them I didn’t have my shop anymore, but they didn’t care. They’d just bring their car to my house, and I’d repair it for them. I considered that as God providing for me. That’s how I was able to pay the mortgage and the car note and to put food on the table so I could keep feeding on the Word of God.

One day a man who was a local contractor called and asked me to work for him on a house he was finishing that week. Even though I didn't know anything about construction, he said God told him to ask me.

Who was I to question what God had told him? For the next week I spent my days sweeping out newly completed construction areas, burning the trash, and running to the lumberyard to pick up materials. I spend my evenings feeding on the Word of God, sometimes until three or four o’clock in the morning, and refusing to be moved by my circumstances.

Some days I didn’t have enough money to buy lunch, but someone would say, “Hey Jerry, let me buy your lunch.” God used those times to show me He was absolutely true to His Word, which says, And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was seeing the blessing at work. God was telling me that it wasn’t the time to give up, that He was moving on my behalf.

The job was completed on time, and at the end of the week, the man I worked for came to my house and handed me a cheque that represented 10 percent of what he had made on that job. He had given me the tithe. When I saw the amount, I was speechless. I walked over to Carolyn and showed it to her. She was speechless, too.

The next day, I went to the bank and walked right into the office of the vice president. He was the man who had helped me get into all my debt, and at the time, I was way behind on my payments. Nobody could have been more surprised than he was when I handed him a check to cover the entire amount I owed. And nobody could have been happier than I was to walk out of the bank with a note marked “paid in full.”

I believe that turnaround was the beginning of a journey for Carolyn and me—a journey in which every day was to be a blessing day. It would still be some time before we learned how to appropriate the principles that enabled us to walk in the blessing at the level we do today. But once we had that breakthrough, we knew our lives would never be the same.

You, too, can learn to appropriate the principles of the blessing. And when you do, I can assure you, your life will never be the same. If God did it for me, I know He will do it for you!

Let me encourage you to feed on the Word of God. Read your Bible daily. If you want God's blessing to manifest in your life, then regardless of your circumstances, you are going to have to respond in faith and do what the Word of God says to do.

Your continued support of this ministry positions you for a harvest of blessing and enables this ministry to continue teaching you and many others the biblical principles for a victorious life. As a thank you for your offering this month, the monthly contact message is a 3CD set called Every Day A Blessing Day.

Thank you for being a part of what God is doing around the world and for believing in the call of God on my life. Now is the time for you to walk in God's blessing on a daily basis!

In Him,
