You were not just saved by Jesus to die and go to heaven! Every believer has been saved, sanctified and set aside for service. That includes you!
“Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.” – Hebrews 13:20-21 NKJV
Are the following good works? Encouraging one another, laying hands on the sick, casting out demons, sharing the gospel, worship, yes they are! This means God has made you to be a vessel for good works (service) like these and more. God’s desire for you is to be, equiped, strengthened and to do His will, to be a vessel to flow through on this earth.
We see in Ephesians 4:7–14 God gave gifts to the Church to help equip His people. The 5 fold ministry (Prophet, Apostle, Pastor, Teacher, Evangelist) are still relevant today to equip and build up the body, His Church in preparation for the work of the ministry (Good Works) as mentioned above.
The 5 fold is designed to NURTURE (care for, protect, guide, help, encourage, bring education) while PREPARING (making ready for use, ready to do, ready to deal with) God’s assignment(s)/Will.
The true supernatural ministry at work in the church, gives life to spiritual functional people throughout the whole church family. The body (Church) is to be built up by the mutual efforts of all the members supplying their contribution to the whole.
The word ministry: diakonia greek: dee-ak-on-ee’-ah, means attendance (as a servant, etc.), for service.
Every believer is called to the work of the ministry in a sense or for service, whereby you are born again, spirit filled and the gifts begin operating in and through you under 5 fold guidance, nurturing and preparation, whereby you are positioned to, minister one to another (fellow believers) as well as to minister (share the Gospel) to the lost. It’s always to build up, never break down.
You can read more on this in Romans 12:3-8, 1 Corinthians 14:26/40, Mark 16:15-18 and Matthew 28:16-19. Always remember, you’re not the healer, nor the source of power, you’re the vessel for the power of God to flow in and through. We are believing for more, signs, wonders, miracles and extraordinary manifestations than ever before. God is saying, step up Church, I’ll back you says the Lord of Hosts!
Add (win souls), Connect (Invite them to church) and Grow (Disciple them). We are all called to Christian service, you too!
